I hope I’m not giving away any trade secrets, but when a recording act tours behind a new lp, the hometown show looms large, and I hope I’m not being chauvinistic when I suggest that when said show is in New York it casts an especially big shadow. So I’ll admit it–on the eve of our 2009 New York appearance, we may have been looking past this date’s booking at Stuart‘s Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio with the Beatdowns. But if we were, we weren’t for long. A tremendously fun show. Taking advantage of the opera house environment, we open with our first performance of “Green Arrow” in over a year and a half. And how much clearer could we be than by beginning our second encore with “Let’s Get Rid of New York”? (I’m not saying we hadn’t changed our tune by the next day.)
